We are part of Toastmasters International, a world leader in communication and leadership development, since 1924. Through its global network of 16,400 clubs in 142 countries, the program helps more than 352,000 members improve their speaking and management skills.
How does it work?
A Toastmasters meeting is a hands-on program in which you exercise your speaking and management skills in a positive atmosphere. Everyone feels welcome and valued.
There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, you practice giving prepared speeches as well as brief impromptu presentations. The program allows you to progress at your own pace; there is no rush and no pressure.
Constructive evaluation is a key part of Toastmasters’ success. Every time you give a speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. Receiving and giving feedback is a great learning experience. Members also learn to conduct meetings, and improve grammar and time management skills.
Good leaders are good communicators
Anyone who is a strong leader has to first be an effective communicator. In Toastmasters, you will hone your speaking skills, and you will develop leadership abilities – through evaluations, listening, mentoring, serving as club officers and filling roles in club meetings. You will take those leadership skills out into the world, running businesses, mentoring youths, organizing fund-raisers, coaching teams and heading up families.
